Much of the Parish is covered by an extensive area of woodland known as Highmeadow Wood, which forms part of the Dean Forest Park. Nearly all of this is ancient (i.e. continuously wooded since 1600), although some has been re-planted. Some of these woodlands are internationally important for their wildlife.
Most, if not all, of the woodland within the Parish is owned and managed by the Forestry Commission, in accordance with their own Forest Plans.
