The Parish Council has been working with local volunteers and Gloucestershire County Council to reduce traffic speed along the A4136 through Staunton following the publication of its recent Road Safety Strategy.

The County Council presented us with a special road sign in late 2016, known as a ‘speed indicative device,’ which alerts drivers by flashing up the speed of their vehicle as it approaches. The parish council will be able to move the sign to different locations around the village and its presence already seems to be having an impact on traffic speed.

County Councillor Paul McMahon, who was instrumental in securing the funding for the sign said, “I’m glad I could use some of my highways local funding to help tackle speeding concerns in the village of Staunton, and I think the new vehicle activated road sign will make a big difference.”
